South Ponto Beach Family Session by Christel Tran

Beach sessions are some of my faves. And when they include an amazing family, I’m in my happy place! I grew up with this pretty mama and always love spending time with her adorable fam. This was my second time photographing them and I was so excited when they chose the beach as their location. Since they live in Carlsbad, it was only fitting that we ended up at South Ponto Beach (and especially since it’s a beach that they frequent as a family). We had a blast to say the least, it felt like we played the entire time. My kind of session! I couldn’t have asked for anything more. :)

Lifestyle Newborn Session by Christel Tran

Lifestyle Newborn Session

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. It truly is my favorite time of year! I got to catch up with my wonderful clients / friends and meet new families as well. Once the busy holiday season of shooting subsided, I enjoyed lots of family time and even a fun desert road trip to the Grand Canyon (wow!)

One of my favorite sessions from 2018 was this lifestyle newborn session. It almost gave me baby fever…almost. ;) I just adore this gorgeous family and when they contacted me to photograph their newborn baby boy, I was beyond thrilled! I first met them a year ago when they were just a party of 3 and I couldn’t wait to capture their first moments at home as a party of 4. Thank you G family for inviting me into your beautiful home and allowing me to spend time with you all. It was such a joy to meet Baby C, he was a dream! And big sister was already taking her role seriously by helping out with diaper changes, so sweet! It just warms my heart watching their adorable family grow!

Schitt's Creek Halloween Shoot by Christel Tran

When Kate from Highlights Along the Way contacted me about this fun project, I was instantly on board.  I had such a BLAST, they had me cracking up the entire shoot! :)  What a great idea for a family or group costume.  They really nailed each and every character!

Thanks to Kate for introducing me to this hilarious show and giving me the opportunity to photograph her super fun and awesome family.  I think she has some budding actors on her hands!  Also, I highly recommend checking out her blog for some great family travel and entertainment tips.  See Kate's Schitt's Creek blog post here

The Beginning... by Christel Tran

Photography has been such a huge part of my life for quite some time now.  There's something about capturing those special moments in time that keeps me inspired to keep documenting.  Being a long-time hobbyist, I always questioned whether or not I had what it took to make the transition and start a photography business. Would I be good enough? Technically? Or creatively?  Even though I received much support for my work over the years from my family and friends, I still didn't have the courage to cross that path just yet.

Life took some twists and turns and 2016 proved to be one of the most difficult years of my life.  In the midst of it all, my dear friend & fellow photographer (Chris Nelson Photography) randomly asked if I ever considered starting a photography business. I thought about it for a few days and received many encouraging signs from the heavens above (thanks Dad, miss you so much) so I said why not?  What did I have to lose?  Little did I know that this would be the start of "the beginning" and photography would prove to be super therapeutic and comforting during such a trying time.

These images will always be special to me because it signifies the start of "the beginning".  Thank you Chris for being an amazing mentor/ friend, trusting me to capture your gorgeous family and giving me that final push that I needed.  Also, much love and thanks to my dear family & friends who have always believed in me.

My website is finally up and I'm officially writing my first blog post.  I've been blessed in many ways, cheers to new beginnings!  What a wonderful ride it's been so far. <3
